As I’m laying face down on the ice in the goalies crease with my helmet almost off my head, and snow all over the front of my uniform. I feel a thud hit the back of my helmet and my face almost hits the ice from the impact. I feel a weight lift off my back. It was a body getting off of me. I jumped up to my skates like a shot out of a cannon. I turned around and look at the Michigan Warriors player who had cheap shotted me, and punched me in the back of the head. He was skating over towards me fast with anger in his face, hate in his heart, and his fist clenched with his gloves off. It was then that I made one of the quickest and major decisions in my life. I quickly dropped my stick and shed my gloves as fast as possible to initiate our fight. I had to stand up for myself and my teammates.
This will serve as my Wordle and my post of 10 chapter titles from my life. Wordle wouldn't work on my computer.
Major Decisions 1. not going to college 2. taking summer classes 3. first fight 4. stealing wood with friends 5. moving away from home 6. buying a puppy 7. not applying myself in high school 8. not training hard enough 9. shooting instead of passing/ beating Team Comcast 10. getting traded It was the second period. Sabby (my teammate) had the puck near our bench. We were at our home rink Polar Stadium and we were attacking the Michigan Warriors net. It was a two on two rush with a man back checking on me. He was so close I could feel him breathing down my neck. Sabby threw a saucer pass from the top of the left circle to me in front of the net. the goalie saved the puck, but as he saved it I got hit from behind by the back checking player into the goalie. The goalie, the back checker, and myself all fell into the net. As I’m laying face down on the ice in the goalies crease I get punched in the back of the helmet. I feel a body get off of me and I jumped up onto my skates like a shot out of a cannon. I turned around and look at the Michigan Warriors player who had punched me in the back of the head who was skating over towards me. It was then that I made one of the quickest and major decisions in my life. I quickly dropped my stick and shed my gloves as quickly as possible to initiate our fight. I grabbed his jersey and shoulder pads with my left hand and we had locked up and were ready to throw punches. We were spinning around in circles trying to get our footing. When we had gotten our balance he had thrown a punch that I dodge. As soon as I saw the fist go by my face another one quickly followed. I had found a way to dodge both punches. I realized that I had been tying up and not throwing any punches. I wanted to pick my spots to throw. I threw a punch to his left eye that knocked his helmet off and reddened his eye. I had frustrated him because I quickly had to deal with another two punches that came my way. As he threw his punches I ducked my head and looked down towards the ice. Both of his punches hit the top of my helmet. I had escaped his attacks for the moment. I then threw another punch that landed very close to the same spot near his left eye. He then ripped my helmet off, but at this point in the fight we were both very tired. We were both holding out tired, looking for a good time to throw our final shots. I tried to throw an upper cut to end the fight, but some how during the fight my left hand had caught the strap of his helmet and his helmet was stuck in-between my hand and his jersey. My upper cut had hit his helmet and it blocked my punch. The next thing I remember is him pulling me down to the ice by my jersey, then both of the linesmen had jumped in and separated us. As we skated to the penalty box it was probably the only time I got congratulated by my coach and teammates for taking a penalty. |
